Connect Stripe and take deposits
Stripe is how you take card payments online: deposits when customers book, and the balance after the job. The money goes into your own Stripe account and out to your bank. Detailvio never takes a cut. Stripe charges its standard card processing fee.
Connect Stripe
- Go to Payments and open the Stripe account tab.
- Click Connect Stripe.
- Stripe asks for your business details, your identity and the bank account to pay you, right inside Detailvio. Sole proprietors can sign up with their own name; you don’t need a registered business.
- Stripe may ask you to confirm your phone number with a text message code in a small window. That keeps your account safe.
- When you finish, the tab shows your status:
- Not connected
- You haven’t started.
- Stripe needs more information
- Stripe is waiting on something from you, like your ID. A red dot shows on the Stripe account tab. Open it to finish.
- Stripe is active
- You’re ready to take deposits and card payments.
Turn on deposits
- Go to Services and open a service.
- Under Deposit, choose what the customer pays when they book:
- None
- They book now and pay after the job.
- Percent
- A share of the price, like 25%. Set But at least so a small job still takes a real deposit.
- Fixed
- The same amount every time, like $50.
- Click Save. Do the same for each service that should take a deposit.
- Optional: in Booking page → Paying online, turn on:
- Deposits are non-refundable
- Customers see this before they pay.
- Customers can pay their balance online
- From their status page once the car is ready, or any time from a pay link you send.
Customers pay the deposit by card on the last step of booking. Their time is held for 15 minutes while they pay. If they don't finish, the time opens up again and nothing is charged. A paid deposit confirms the booking right away, even if you review bookings first.
Their booking summary shows the deposit:
- Total
- $1,049.00
- Deposit today
- $200.00
- Due after the job
- $849.00
Getting paid without Stripe
Deposits are optional. Plenty of detailers take e-Transfer or cash. Open the booking or invoice and record the payment as e-Transfer or cash, so your records and the customer's balance stay right. This works on every plan, including Free.
- A deposit for big jobs like coatings and corrections is the most common setup. Many detailers leave maintenance washes at None.
- Tell customers your deposit policy in your service descriptions so nothing comes as a surprise.
- You don’t need a Stripe login: payouts and your account details are in Payments.
- Refunds and disputes are handled in Payments.
